Wolves and werewolves lurk throughout the dreams of young Rosaleen (Sarah Patterson), who imagines that she must journey through a dark forest to live with her grandmother (Angela Lansbury). When Rosaleen meets a rugged hunter in the woods, she discovers that she has an animal-like attraction to him, leading to a macabre turn of events. The lupine-centric film also features stories within the main tale, told by both Rosaleen and her grandma, all of which have a supernatural bent.

This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast, we take a look at the 1988 supernatural thriller "The Serpent and the Rainbow" directed by Wed Craven. Starring Bill Pullman, Cathy Tyson, Zakes Mokae, and Paul Winfield, the film tells the (supposedly based on a) true story of an anthropologist's exploration into the supernatural and corrupt underworld of Hatia's "voodoo" practices in hopes of producing live-saving medicines.
While most know of Wes Craven for his Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream franchises, this entry is a little different than many other Craven pieces. This week we take a look at the 1983 film "Rock & Rule". Directed by Clive A. Smith, R&R is a futuristic sci-fi/fantasy story of evil mega-popstar "Mok" who manipulates an up-and-coming rock band to unleash a demonic force that will catapult him to world domination. But the music by Deborah Harry, Earth, Wind & Fire, Cheap Trick, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, and the score by Patricia Cullen is the real selling point.

Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens), an eccentric child-like man, loves his red bicycle and will not sell it to his envious neighbor, Francis (Mark Holton). While Pee-wee visits his friend Dottie (Elizabeth Daily), the bike is stolen. Thinking his bike is at the Alamo, Pee-wee sets off on a trip, where he meets many remarkable people, including waitress Simone (Diane Salinger) and a motorcycle gang. Eventually, Pee-wee discovers that his bike is being used in a movie and tries to recover it.

Los Angeles teenager Ritchie Valens (Lou Diamond Phillips) becomes an overnight rock 'n' roll success in 1958, thanks to a love ballad called "Donna" that he wrote for his girlfriend (Danielle von Zerneck) whose parents didn't want her to date a Latino boy. But as his star rises, Valens has conflicts with his jealous brother, Bob (Esai Morales), and becomes haunted by a recurring nightmare of a plane crash just as he begins his first national tour alongside Buddy Holly (Marshall Crenshaw).
