Video Junkyard Podcast

Do you ever get a flash of a memory of a movie you saw as a child, but can’t remember the name? Perhaps you caught it on TV while staying up later than you should have. Or maybe you never saw it, but you recognize the cover art from the neighborhood video store around the block. At the Video Junkyard, we dig up these forgotten films and franchises and see if they still hold up in the digital age. Hosts Erik Gulbrandsen, Joe Peterson and Ryan Steiskal will look at the best, the worst, and the best of the worst.

The Video Junkyard Podcast is not a political podcast. However human rights are not a political issue. It is our collective belief that there is a right and a wrong way to treat your fellow human beings. In a show of support and solidarity we have decided to join other podcasters of the world in the #PodcastBlackout. There will be no regular scheduled episode of the VJP this week. We dedicate this silence to the black communities of this country who continue to fight and struggle everyday. We dedicate this silence to George Floyd who was murdered by those who swore an oath to protect and we dedicate this silence to standing together against hate.

It's our 100th Episode!! And for this very special episode, we review the cult classic Dolemite (1975) directed by D'Urville Martin and staring the great Rudy Ray Moore! In what is called the "Citizen Kane of Kung Fu Pimpin Films", Moore brings his popular stage persona of Dolemite to the big screen, released from prison on a special mission to clear his name, clean up the streets, and take down that no-good, rat soup-eatin' mother$%&@# Willie Green. Help up celebrate our 100th episode with this classic - check it out on Tubi and join us for the review on the Video Junkyard Podcast!

Another TV Junkyard! And throughout the month of May, David and Ryan are reviewing obscure, forgotten, or just plain weird Spider-Man shows!
We conclude our Spider-Man month with the mother of all weird Spider-Man shows: 1978 Toei's "Spider-Man"! Best known to the internet as the "Japanese Spider-Man", this international oddity feels and looks like an alternate reality where a bootleg Spider-Man toy line got it's own series. However, this official Toei-Marvel pair-up does more than make up for its low budget look with hours of WTF gold! Join us as we breakdown the series greatest moment and odd contributions to the Spider-Man Multiverse in this episode of TV Junkyard!

This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast we take a look at 2011 independent comedy horror film "The Moleman of Belmont Avenue".
This labor-of-love flick was written and directed by Mike Bradecich and John LaFlamboy, who star as two slacker slumlords on the hunt for a pet-eating moleman that prowls their apartment building. Along for the hunt is a cast made up with an odd mix-up of semi-familiar faces ranging from Nightmare on Elm Street's own Robert Englund to that guy from the Sonic drive-thur commercials. Join us as we find out if this passion project proves to be a hidden gem or just more junk that's best left forgotten in the basement.

Another TV Junkyard! And throughout the month of May, David and Ryan are reviewing obscure, forgotten, or just plain weird Spider-Man shows!
This episode we review Spider-Man The New Animated Series, an early 2000's series that is created through computer animation, with a story made for an MTV audience in mind, while trying ride off the success of the 2002 Sam Rami Spider-Man film. Surely, all that is enough pressure to be considered a creator's nightmare, so there's no way this is good... right? Or is there a possibility that the bizarre star studded cast and occasional mature tones give it a fighting chance? Well, put away that game of snake on your Nokia phone and join us as we crack open this early 2000's time-capsule of this short lived series and find out if this is a crime or treasure in this episode of TV Junkyard!

Episode Number 98 - The Video Junkyard Goes to the Opera!
This week we look at cult musical Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008). Does this goth opera live up to its midnight movie reputation or do its organs need to be repossessed?

Another TV Junkyard! And throughout the month of May, David and Ryan are reviewing obscure, forgotten, or just plain weird Spider-Man shows!
This episode we review Spider-Man Unlimited. This forgotten series changes everything up for our favorite neighbor wall-crawler, firstly, by completely switching out the neighborhood with a completely different Earth located on the opposite side of the sun. Not only that, this Spider-Man has whole new costume and new animal-humanoid villains to go up against as well as some "unique" Counter-Earth equivalents of some classic ones. Did we mention a rat lady who has the hots for our hero? Well, we talk about that and other WTF moments in this episode of TV Junkyard!

It's another episode of the nonsensical soirée we call "Free Rentals". This time the guys talk candidly about Anime, DC Movies and Quarantine Cocktails and they didn't even know they were being recorded. Enjoy!
