Video Junkyard Podcast
Do you ever get a flash of a memory of a movie you saw as a child, but can’t remember the name? Perhaps you caught it on TV while staying up later than you should have. Or maybe you never saw it, but you recognize the cover art from the neighborhood video store around the block. At the Video Junkyard, we dig up these forgotten films and franchises and see if they still hold up in the digital age. Hosts Erik Gulbrandsen, Joe Peterson and Ryan Steiskal will look at the best, the worst, and the best of the worst.

This week we take a look at the 70s cult classic Shock Waves starring Peter Cushing and John Carradine. This film belongs to the unique sub-genre of "Nazi Zombie" movies which there are more than a handful of these days. Does this aquatic classic rise out of the depths of obscurity or should you just leave it shipwrecked?

This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast we take a look at the 1982 cult horror classic "Basket Case" directed by Frank Henenlotter. Kevin Van Hentenryck stars as Duane Bradley, a plucky go-getter who arrives in New York City with his brother to make it big... WHOOPS wrong movie. Mysterious wicker baskets, inhuman screaming, deformed conjoined twin hand puppets, and some of the worst stop-motion animation since you got your hands on that a camcorder in 6th grade. Is Basket Case the cult classic everyone claims? Or does this basket just contain trash? Check out the film for FREE at TubiTV.com, then tune in to the Video Junkyard Podcast to join the discussion!

On the latest episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast, Erik, Ryan, and Joe check out Ken Russell's "Lair of the White Worm" starring Hugh Grant, Peter Capaldi, and Amanda Donohoe. Loosely based on the nearly unreadable book by Bram Stoker (yes, the same Bram Stoker), does this tale of serpentine vampires still have bite, or should it stay in the basket? This week we talk about the (in)famous expolitation film "Ms .45" written and directed by cult film hero Abel Ferrara. Films such as this one influenced the prevelent, albiet controversial, "rape revenge" sub-genre. This one surely isn't easy to watch but is it worth the time.

This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast we take a look back at the 1999 supernatural thriller "Stir of Echoes" starring Kevin Bacon. Based the on the novel by Richard Matheson, this creepy ghost story was a bit overshadowed by the OTHER "kid sees dead people" film of 1999... but does this underdog still send chills down the spine, or is all huff and no haunt? This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast, Erik, Ryan, and Joe check out the 1992 film "Split Second", directed by Tony Maylam and staring Rutger Hauer, Kim Cattrall, Alastair Duncan, and Michael J. Pollard. Split Second takes us to a flooded future London where unhinged Detective Harley Stone (Hauer) hunts a serial killer who murdered his partner, and has haunted him ever since. He soon discovers what he is hunting might not be human...
Its dark, it's damp, its an odd mashup of a buddy cop science fiction horror film. But does it actually work?! Check out the film on tubitv.com then tune in for the discussion on the Video Junkyard Podcast.
