Video Junkyard Podcast
Do you ever get a flash of a memory of a movie you saw as a child, but can’t remember the name? Perhaps you caught it on TV while staying up later than you should have. Or maybe you never saw it, but you recognize the cover art from the neighborhood video store around the block. At the Video Junkyard, we dig up these forgotten films and franchises and see if they still hold up in the digital age. Hosts Erik Gulbrandsen, Joe Peterson and Ryan Steiskal will look at the best, the worst, and the best of the worst.

This week we continue our dive into the Texas Chainsaw movies as we discuss "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2". This sequel came almost a decade after the original massacre and has a decidedly different tone than the first film. Is this one a missed opportunity or is it prime meat? Check it out on Tubi and then join in the discussion in the Video Junkyard.

On this very special and magical episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast we check out the 1989 cult classic "Teen Witch" starring Robyn Lively and Zelda Rubinstein.
Quintessential 80's teen Louise Miller (Lively) discovers her magical abilities on her 16th birthday and uses them to give her what she's always wanted - popularity! But all things come at a cost...
Cracking open this late 80's time capsule was like opening the Ark of the Covenant in "Raiders" but with slightly less Nazi-melting. This was a first-time watch for all of us and frankly it felt as alien as it would have been for us to wander through the pink Barbie aisle of a Toys R Us in 1989... But times have changed! So we dove into the mysticism, the magic, and the rapping of Teen Witch! So Top That!

This week we'll be discussing the wacky Kung Fu madhouse that is "Master of the Flying Guillotine" (or One Armed Boxer 2 or One Armed Boxer vs. the Flying Guillotine or whatever you want to call it). This film was brought to you (and us) by listener and friend of the show Brian Adkins (Thanks Bryan!) and it's certainly an unforgettable viewing experience. Check the movie out on Pluto TV and/or Vudu and get in on the discussion of this (in)famous cult classic.

This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast we check out the 2003 animated film "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem", directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi. Written by Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and Cédric Hervet, this hard-t-find anime is set to the "Discover" album by the French electronic music duo Daft Punk.
So it's an hour-long Daft Punk video.
But how is the story? Well....that's what we discuss this week! Joining us is longtime friend of the podcast David Andrews (and contributor to the TV Junkyard Podcast) who picked this one as one of our ongoing "Audience Picks"!
So how is Interstella 5555? Check out this weeks episode to find out!

Our TARDIS has landed once again and this time we're talking about the audio book of James Goss's 2017 novel "Doctor Who and the Krikkit Men". "Doctor Who and the Krikkit Men" is adapted from a story by the late, great Douglas Adams and this BBC audio book is performed by none other than Dan Starkey (who you may know as Strax or various other Sontarans on Doctor Who).
Returning to the Junkyard this week are PBJ co-host Assad Khaishgi and Larry VanMersbergen from the Doctor Who Collectors Podcast.

Listener picks continue throughout the month of April and this week we are watching "Raise the Titanic" recommended by Matthew Kresal. This 1980 espionage thriller that culminates in the raising of the wreck of the titular ship is based on the best selling novel by Clive Cussler. Does this oft forgotten film rise to the occasion or should it be left at the bottom of the Atlantic? Check the movie out on HBO Max and then tune in to see what comes up.
