Video Junkyard Podcast

Do you ever get a flash of a memory of a movie you saw as a child, but can’t remember the name? Perhaps you caught it on TV while staying up later than you should have. Or maybe you never saw it, but you recognize the cover art from the neighborhood video store around the block. At the Video Junkyard, we dig up these forgotten films and franchises and see if they still hold up in the digital age. Hosts Erik Gulbrandsen, Joe Peterson and Ryan Steiskal will look at the best, the worst, and the best of the worst.

Come along with Erik and Assad as their TARDIS travels the Whoniverse in a completely random order. This time we've read a non-fiction book from The Black Archive series. This week on the Video Junkyard Podcast we look back at the 1994 miniseries of Stephen King's "The Stand". Directed by Mick Garris and packed with an all-star cast including Gary Sinise, Laura San Giancomo, Molly Ringwald, Jamey Sheridan, Rob Lowe, Ruby Dee, and many many more, "The Stand" is a 6-hour adaptation of King's novel that tells of a world ravaged by a deadly plague that sets survivors on a path of good or a path of darkness.
Sound sorta familiar?
While a new updated series was released earlier in 2021, how does the 1994 version hold up in an age of global pandemics? Check out the latest episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast to join the discussion!
