VJP Ep 229 - Gremlins

On this episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast we continue our annual Christmas movie marathon with a long-time fan favorite (yet often forgotten holiday film) Gremlins! This 1984 classic was directed by Joe Dante, written by Chris Columbus and stars Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyte Axton, and an early role by Corey Feldman. When a father gives his son Billy (Galligan) a strange pet for Christmas, the creature - a Mogwai named Gizmo - he tells him to follow three important rules for caring for the creature: never bring him out into bright light, never get him wet, and never EVER feed him after midnight. When Billy accidentally breaks the last two rules, a bunch of new mogwais are created and transform into mischievious and monstrous gremlins that wreak havoc to their small midwestern town. With voice talents by Howie Mandel and Frank Welker to round out that cast, Gremlins was a smash hit in 1984. But how does it hold up in 2022?
